Cookie and cache settings on a phone

Menu names checked: October 12, 2026

Phone browsers often offer a coarser choice than desktop browsers. The main iPhone Safari button clears history and website data together. Read the confirmation line before you confirm.

iPhone and iPad Safari

  1. Open the Settings app

Do this in iOS Settings, not inside a menu buried in the Safari window.

  2. Find Safari

On iOS 18 and later, the path is often Settings → Apps → Safari. If that path is missing, use Settings → Safari.

  3. Tap Clear History and Website Data

Confirming removes browsing history, website data including cookies, and the cache together. This button does not offer a cookies-only choice.

  4. Remove one site from the list

In the same Safari settings, open Advanced → Website Data and delete individual sites. If you cannot see it, search Settings for "Website Data".

Chrome on Android

  1. Open the Chrome menu

Tap the three dots, tap History, then Delete browsing data.

  2. Choose the range and the rows

Turn on Cookies and site data, Cached images and files, or both. Leave the other rows off.

  3. Tap Delete data

This does not clear cookies stored in Samsung Internet or another Android browser.

Samsung Internet

  1. Open the browser menu

Use the three-line menu, then Settings.

  2. Find the delete control under privacy

Look for Personal browsing data or Delete browsing data. One UI and Samsung Internet rename the middle step from version to version. Searching settings for "cache" or "cookies" is faster than hunting.

  3. Separate cookies from cache when the list allows it

If cookies, cache, and history are separate rows, select cookies and cache only. If there is a single button, read exactly what it says it will delete.
